Universal Grinders
Universal grinders may form part of some plants as the particle size of raw material should be reduced to the most optimal size of 20x20x3mm. The Universal Grinder is a high capacity grinder with hydraulic push to take large pieces of waste in for reduction such as whole pallets for instance.
Driers may also have to be incorporated where the moisture levels of raw material have to be reduced to the preferred 6-12% range. These are usually rotary drum type driers for continuous throughput.
Hammer mills, of industrial capacity may be used to reduce particles to the required size. Scanwood manufactures a range of industrial hammer mills for this purpose.

Calorific Value - one of the most important characteristics of a fuel is its calorific value, that is the amount of energy per kg it gives off when burnt. The calorific value can thus be used to calculate the competitiveness of a processed fuel in a given market situration. There is a range of other factors, such as ease of handling, burning characteristics etc., which also influence the market value, but calorific value is probably the most important factor and should be recognised when selecting the raw material input.
