Perfecting the art of turning waste into profit

CF Nielsen Briquetting Machines
Energy problems are well known. Natural resources and primary energy are becoming scarce. Supply of new and alternative energy sources has become a necessity to provide better yield from energy cost and efficiency.
Briquetting of production wastes and crop residues provides an excellent energy source and an environmental friendly combustible fuel becomes available.
Additionally, certain crop residues provide a source of alternative animal feed.
Scanwood is able to offer you complete plants, either stationery or mobile according to the individual requirements of our valued and varied customers. Through the briquetting process industrial wastes and by-products within the industrial, agricultural and forestry environments such as wood chips, sawdust, straw, paper, groundnut shells, papyrus, rice husks, sugar cane tops and many other waste products can be converted into solid fuel or animal feed stuff.
Scanwood can supply various types of briquetting presses with different capacities. Additional modues can be built in paralles for briquetting larger quantities of waste produces. All briquetting presses can be supplied with a concrete base, thereby providing greater flexibility in layout of plant and machinery arrangement.
Dosing and silo plant can be individually "tailored" or adapted to meet your special requirements. An electric switch board for centralised automatic control of plant minimises operational demands.
The highly compressed and densified biomass briquette has a high calorific value (for example wood 4.500 - 5.000 kcal/h) with high efficiency.
Without addition of binder, alternative fuel is produced, on which transport and storage costs are saved as the bulk volume has been reduced until approximately 10% of its original volume.
The briquettes can be used in automated heating plants, solid fuel burners, stem generators and all types of wood-burning stoves, for heating and cooking, as well as open fire places.
Our production range includes 6 different models, all available in either semi-automatic, developed in particular for manufacturers who have a large silo capadity and multiple shift production, or in an automatic version for manufacturers with less raw material and silo capacity.
The OMRON PLC-control can be set to start the machine automatically, based on a signal from the level sensors.
The capacity ranges between 150kg/h up to 2.200kg/h per unit, depending on the raw material. For larger capacity, further presses can be added.
The briquette diameter depends on the model chosen, and the capacity per hour requested. We do however manufacture models with diameters of 10mm up to 23mm pellets, and briquettes from 50 to 90mm.
The CFN Briquetting Press is based on a selection of the highest quality materials, with a computer controlled machinery park operated by a fully trained and integrated team of operators. Every component is subjected to stringent quality control checks.
The briquetting plant can be automated to where virtually no supervision is required.

Universal Grinders
Universal grinders may form part of some plants as the particle size of raw material should be reduced to the most optimal size of 20x20x3mm. The Universal Grinder is a high capacity grinder with hydraulic push to take large pieces of waste in for reduction such as whole pallets for instance.
Driers
Driers may also have to be incorporated where the moisture levels of raw material have to be reduced to the preferred 6-12% range. These are usually rotary drum type driers for continuous throughput.
Hammer Mills
Hammer mills, of industrial capacity may be used to reduce particles to the required size. Scanwood manufactures a range of industrial hammer mills for this purpose.

Calorific Value - one of the most important characteristics of a fuel is its calorific value, that is the amount of energy per kg it gives off when burnt. The calorific value can thus be used to calculate the competitiveness of a processed fuel in a given market situration. There is a range of other factors, such as ease of handling, burning characteristics etc., which also influence the market value, but calorific value is probably the most important factor and should be recognised when selecting the raw material input.
